A
Leap of Faith
Mandy and Michelle drilled their eyes into their
friend Jen's and Mandy , almost ordering said, "Jen, it has been over
a year now and you need to get back into the business of living."
Seeing her friend Jen begin to protest she lifted her hand and went on
by saying, "Speak to the hand Jen!" Jen sighed deeply and sat quietly
in the small bistro surrounded by her two best friends. She knew deep
down that they were right but she just could not bring herself to put
the past behind her. Many and Michelle had been clearly worried about
their friend and very concerned about her well-being.
Mandy was right! Just over a year before, she and
Michelle sat at Jen's hospital bed waiting for her to regain
consciousness after being beaten within an inch of her life by her
husband of four years. Both of her friends had warned her and told her
to leave him but he always managed to convince her that he really did
love her and it was just that she had made him so mad sometimes. On
that fateful morning after forcing her to suck his cock, he became
violent and beat and stabbed her until she lay unconscious on the kitchen floor. It was only by sheer luck that the neighbor had heard
Jen's screams of anguish and pain and rather than ignoring them, he
had called the police who arrived with an ambulance as Jen's lifeblood
trickled across the tile floor. Since the time that Jen awoke from her
two-month comatose existence, she had been terrified of every man she
encountered and she was even apprehensive of her father whom she had
previously loved deeply.
The sigh that emitted from the depth of Jen's tummy
was audible to all and the tear welling in the corner of her eyes was
clearly a sign to both her friends that she needed to be held and, in
the midst of the small intimate bistro the two comforted their dear
friend. "I'm sorry!" Jen sobbed uncontrollably. "Don't be," Michelle
soothed. "We love you and we only want you to be happy. We will get
through this," Michelle stroked her friend's back as she spoke.
Jen knew that her
friends were right and, if nothing else, felt safe in the warmth and
protection of their arms. She could not get those horrible weeks out
of her mind and even with a psychiatrist working with her she was
having trouble coping. Regardless of her torment, Jen missed the
company of a man and she had to admit that she was beginning to feel
more alive over the past few weeks and even found herself feeling
sexually driven to the point of needing to pull out her dildo and
masturbating. Until that night, she just did not feel sensuous.
Indeed, Jen cared little about sex and after an abusive marriage and
husband she did not trust any man. Jen also knew that she needed to
conquer her fears and Mandy was right! She needed to get on with the
business of living or the business of dieing and even in her crushed
emotional condition dieing just was not an option.
"Will you watch over me
and tell me if I make a mistake?" Her soft voice, still quaking from
the emotion, came as a relief to both Mandy and Michelle who answered
"yes" in unison. Taking in a breath deeper than her lungs could hold,
Jen let out a rush of warm air that seemed to cleanse her soul. She
felt strangely relieved and oddly at peace. "You two just did more for
me than my shrink has in a year!" Her friends were not sure how to
react but when Jen laughed with the fervor of years gone by, Mandy and
Michelle relaxed and joined their friend in her newfound merriment.
Jen set about, over the
next few weeks, to rebuild her life in earnest. She sold the
matrimonial home and found a condominium in the trendy section of the
city where Michelle lived. She bought a new wardrobe and, to the
delight of her friends, donated her old clothes to a woman's shelter
along with all of the furniture from her previous life. She kept
little of that life and within a month of her decision, she had
recreated what she called an "improved version of Jen". Jen felt free
and almost euphoric with an optimism that she had not shown to either
herself or her friends in over ten years. Even her co-workers at the
bank remarked on how wonderful she looked.
It was a Friday
afternoon and about fifteen minutes before bank closing. Jen was busy
moving the remaining customers through her window and when she looked
up at the next client, she saw a man with the most gentle smile
looking into her eyes. Smiling back, she efficiently began to address
his banking needs when he asked her if she would care to join him
after work for a coffee. Jen did not respond immediately. His innocent
request had resurrected the demons of her past and as she worked she
quietly thought. He seemed to know not to press her and allowed her
time to think and that act of silence gave her the confidence to say,
"Okay, but only for a coffee!" They arranged to meet at the small
bistro down the road.
Jen found that after a
few minutes with Kevin his shy demeanor and quiet confidence made her
relax. He was clever and funny and although he was not the college
football captain, he was not bad on her eyes. Besides, she already did
the football and he almost killed her. Neither noticed the sun going
down as Jen related her story to him after he gave her a sketch of his
professional and private life. He sat there visibly amazed that a
person could endure such terror and pain and that a man could treat
such a beautiful woman so badly. "I'm sorry that you were put through
that Jen," he finally interjected, "Listen I have really enjoyed
spending this time with you and getting to know you." Her heart sank
as she listened to his words. She was convinced that he was about to
run for the hills. "I personally think you are an incredible woman and
would love to get to know you better but if you have any concerns or
prefer not to get involved with me I completely understand." He
watched as a tear formed in her eye and, her voice trembling Jen
replied, "I think there is no one I would like to be with right now. I
really do need to take it slowly though." He walked her to her
car and saw her off safely.

Kevin called her the
next day and they spoke as if they had been friends forever. Jen asked
if he would like to go trekking through the escarpment woods the
following day and he quickly accepted. He picked her up outside her
condo on time. The warm spring air blew through her chestnut hair as
the convertible cruised to the woods. It was a wonderful day for Jen.
She felt comfortable but she also felt safe with Kevin and before the
day ended, her hand was nested in his. She did not plan on dinner but
he invited and she accepted and the afternoon excursion soon grew into
an all-day outing for the two. Kevin did not waiver from being nice
and kind and Jen reveled in this man. The evening air was cool and
being thoughtful of her comfort, he put the top of the Mercedes up and
drove her home. It was 10:30 and Jen did not want to let him go. This
twenty-nine year old man was stealing her heart. "Would you like to
come up for a drink?" Her soft voice rang as a cathedral bell through
his ears and he was no fool and quickly accepted her offer. Jen had no
idea what she was about to do but for the first time in over four
years of her tumultuous marriage, she felt safe.
They sat across from
each other, Kevin on the sofa and Jen on the matching chair, and the
two talked and laughed. After pouring another glass of wine for the
two, Jen gathered her resolve and her courage and, rather than sitting
back on the chair, she sat at Kevin's side. As her hip touched his, a
surge of warmth radiated throughout her body. It was like a charge of
sexual energy that she was not certain she had ever experienced. Kevin
was expecting nothing of her nor did he demand anything of her and
perhaps it was that lack of pressure that began to loosen her
inhibitions. She leaned closer to him and kissed his cheek softly. He
placed his glass on the coaster and looked deeply into her golden
brown eyes and in the slowest and most tentative of motion, he lifted
his hand and rested his fingers on her cheeks so lightly that unless
her eyes were open she would not have known they were there. He slowly
leaned in to her until his lips met hers. She could feel his lips
tremble not, she mused, because of anticipation but genuine shyness.
Jen's heart pounded inside her chest as her sensuality began to return
and it was returning with a vengeance. She could feel the crotch of
her panties begin to dampen and her nipples grow hard and it was the
most exhilarating feeling she had ever known.
Before long, her arms
were wrapped around his shoulders and they embraced with a passion
that was rising within them. Suddenly, Kevin pulled back. "What's
wrong?" Jen pleaded.
"Jen, I do not want you
to feel pressured into doing something you will regret. I really like
you and admire you and think that you are one of the most beautiful
women I have ever met. God knows I want you and would love to sleep
with you but you have complete control over what we do. I think I
would rather have you in my life as a great friend than to risk losing
you because you feel pressured to have sex." His voice was soothing
but sincere and his comments only served to arouse Jen more strongly.
She let her hand trail down his chest to his lap lightly brushing the
throbbing hardness in his pants and rested her palm on his thigh just
below that which she now craved. As her thumb lightly caressed the
edge of his bulge Kevin, in his turn, began to softly, almost
tentatively, touch her breast. His touch was amazing and she
involuntarily held her breath. In her past experiences with men,
especially her husband, he would grab on to her tit as though it was a
football and squeeze it until tears came to her eyes. Kevin, on the
other hand, loving stroked it and traced circles around her nipples
even though they were still encased in her sports bra. She slowly
pulled away from him and stood up. Taking his hand, she began leading
him, without resistance to her bedroom. Closing the world out, Jen
shut the door behind them and wrapped her arms around Kevin's neck and
kissed him. There was no holding back. The kiss was deep and
passionate while Jen moved her hands to his tight butt and pulled his
bulge close to her belly. She was a bit nervous when she undid his
belt buckle and unzipped his jeans but she wanted him. She was not
sure if she just needed sex or if she needed sex specifically with
Kevin but the truth was she needed to release some of her pent up
sexual energy. Pushing his jeans down over his butt, Jen stepped away
from him to let him take off his clothes. Suddenly, she realized that
her large scar from the stabbing and subsequent surgery might put him
off, she became apprehensive and said, "Kevin, I have an ugly scar on
my side and you might not want to see me."
Kevin looked at her and
touching her cheeks with his fingertips looked into her eyes and
softly whispered, "When I look at you I see an entire woman who is
beautiful and intelligent and sensual. Jen, I don't think there could
be anything about you that I would not find either intriguing or
beautiful. I want to explore all of you, including your scar and I
promise that I will never give you pause to feel insecure or anything
less than gorgeous."
"I'm not gorgeous! Jen
protested perhaps with a touch of genuine incredulity.
"How you see yourself
Jen is your business but, gorgeous is exactly how I see you. I think
you are amazing!" Kevin spoke softly but with an authority that Jen
had come to accept and appreciate over the past few days. His comment
also gave her the courage to be naked in front of him without turning
off the lights which she fully expected to do. As she removed her top
and jeans, she studied every expression that passed across his face.
Even when he saw the scar line he neither flinched nor look anything
but enamored with her. As she slid her thong down her long legs and
stood up exposing her neatly trimmed bush then lifting her sports bra
over her head, she began to feel accepted for who she was. "See,"
Kevin said with a smile and a wink, "You are drop dead gorgeous!"
He moved closer to her
and began placing soft delicate kisses along her neck and over her
breasts then moved slowly down to her side with the scar she believed
would repulse him and kissed the five inch smooth line of tissue. He
stood and removed his clothes and, looking down at his hard cock
standing erect from his loins, he laughed and asked, "Does this look
like I might find you unattractive?" Jen laughed but could only shake
her head her eyes not leaving the swollen head of his cock. Before she
could move, Kevin was down on his knees before her softly stroking her
smooth round bum and pulling her sweet hot pussy towards his mouth.
